Short trip or not, keep La Pedrera (Casa Milà).
Allow 1.5 hrs.
The building makes more sense as you climb. In the attic, hundreds of brick arches explain how the roof is carried; above them, chimneys and stair towers turn ventilation into sculpture and frame sharp views across the Eixample. The furnished apartment gives the place domestic scale after all that invention. It is less immediately dazzling than Casa Batlló, but more satisfying for anyone curious about the mechanics behind the style.
