Is Montserrat (day-trip) worth it in a day?

Worth itIn a day

Short trip or not, keep Montserrat (day-trip).

Allow Half–full day.

The train leaves the suburbs, the rack railway climbs and the stone needles begin to close around the monastery. Inside the basilica, devotion to La Moreneta gives the site a seriousness that the busy forecourt can obscure. The best visits continue beyond it, by funicular or on foot, until the complex drops below and the rock takes over. Midday groups compress the basilica queue, so an early departure changes the whole day.
