One of Barcelona's strongest free walks. Build the route around Roman remains, medieval squares and the cathedral exterior, then spend only on the museum or interior that matters most.
Free to wander
The quarter rewards wandering only after you choose a few anchors: the cathedral cloister, Plaça del Rei, the Roman columns on Carrer del Paradís and the quieter lanes of the old Jewish quarter. Without them, it can blur into souvenir shops and handsome stone. Early morning brings delivery carts and empty arches; late evening restores the echo and shadow. Keep valuables close on crowded approaches from La Rambla.
